  • 14 - 19 — Feast of Our Lady of Carmen (The port town of Ciudad del Carmen hosts an annual regional fair which includes bullfighting and livestock exhibitions, sporting events, plenty of food, drinking and dancing, in mid-July. )
  • 23 - 30 — Caribbean Hotel International Congress (During the last week of June the annual meeting of Caribbean hotel proprietors, part of which is open to the public, brings with it an exposition of various foods and services offered throughout the area. )
September:
  • 15 — Independence Day (Cancun residents celebrate the liberation of Mexico by Padre Miguel Hidalgo, on El Grito, or the “Shout” Day, with festivities all over the downtown and Isla de Mujeres areas.)
  • 15 - 20 — Autumnal Equinox (a side trip to the famous Mayan pyramid of Chichen Itza, and marvel at the famous sunset optical illusion when shadows zigzag their way to the stone carving of the serpent Kukulkan.)
  • 29 - Oct 5 — Mexican Caribbean Travel Mart (During the first week in October, the Cancun Travel Agent Association and the Cancun Hotel Association hold their annual convention, part of which is open to the public, and showcase food and services offered in the area. )

  • 31 — Eve of All Souls Day (Residents bring flowers and candles to the graves of loved ones on the eve of October 31, all over the Yucatan Peninsula.)
November:
  • 1 — All Souls Day/Day of the Dead (Throughout the Yucatan Peninsula, families enjoy a traditional meal at the graves of loved ones, and various festivals are held in the area, during the first two days in November.)
  • 1 - 30 — Movie Festival (Enjoy an international gathering of cinema enthusiasts and screenings of the worlds best independent new films, during the month of November. )
  • 3 - 9 — World Cup Triathlon (Watch international contestants compete in swimming, running and biking events at Langosta Beach, during the first week in November. )
  • 20 — Anniversary of the Mexican Revolution (Celebrate the Mexican Revolution of 1910 with parades, speeches and ceremonies)
December:
  • 16 - Jan 1 — Christmas Holiday ( Starting nine days before Christmas and concluding after the new year, a period called the "posada," or procession, the residents celebrate the season with a variety of street fairs, piñata breaking, passion plays called "pastorelas," and a feast in honor of the Virgen de la Soledad. )

Puerto Vallarta

  • 1 — Presidents State of Nation Address
  • 14 — Charro Day (Charros (Mexican horsemen/women) parade through town in the morning (beginning at 10:00 a.m.) wearing traditional charro outfits, which are beautifully decorated jackets, pants and sombreros. Their finely brushed horses are decked with their best equipment. Festivities continue throughout the day and evening at various charro rings, and celebrations include bullfights, calf roping, food and dancing.)

  • 16 — Independence Day (The festivities continue on Independence Day, a national holiday celebrated by more brilliant fireworks and a parade that winds through the center of town. National holiday, banks and public government offices are closed.)

  • 2 — Day of the Dead/Día de los Muertos (Families hold a graveside vigil on this night, or at least leave their favorite food and drink (usually tequila) on a special altar constructed in their home or on the tomb of their departed ancestors. Bakeries are filled with sweets shaped in the symbols of death, and flowers and memorials fill the cemetery. Particularly popular are marigolds, the sacred Aztec flower that represents death.)
